ANCIENT TONGA AND THE LOST CITY OF MU’A

ANCIENT TONGA AND THE LOST CITY OF MU’A

Tonga. Of all the islands in Polynesia Tonga is perhaps the most exotic. It shall be shown in this book that ancient Tonga stretched much farther into the Pacific than it does today. Indeed, one of the points of this book is that Tonga, at one time, was the capital of the entire Polynesia realm. During the last half the 19th century Pacific Island nations were being swallowed up by the colonial powers of Europe, Tonga alone had a sufficiently strong central government to retain their independence. Tonga means “south” in most Polynesian dialects and Rarotonga mean “far-south.” According to tradition, in ancient times Samoa, Niue and Rarotonga were ruled from Tonga, or specifically, Tongatapu. Aside from the megaliths of Tonga this book also includes Fiji and its wars with Tonga, Rarotonga’s megalithic road, Polynesian astronomy, comology, Egyptias, Hindus and Chinese in the Pacific, and more. Includes a 16-page color section. This limited edition is signed on the title page by David Hatcher Childress.
